AQW Mini-war Part 1: Undead! and Break Shop

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Anyway, I minimized my avatar on this post because I've got loads of images and screenshots for everyone!

So, the first part of the mini-wars has just been released. Talk to Twilly in Battleon to goto Artix's Undead Mini-wars. Once we hit the 100% mark in the War Meter, the Lich boss who, apparently, is responsible for all the undead. As usual, in ever war, there are battle prizes. It'll be incredibly difficult to get
a war prize, much less fill up the war meter! Here's a little tip: Kill-steal! Just kidding. But it is quicker to fill up the war meter that way. Although, it does go and break all rules of moral and integrity...but at least we'll get to battle the Lich King!

Aside from that, the Break Shop has been opened! So get your swimming gear on and Battle On! It seems the staff has made the male version of the Battle Swimwear incredibly bulky, making for an epic armor; on the other hand, I'm not so sure on that of it female counterpart, as it seems a bit... I don't know. Anyway, members are the only ones allowed to graduate (LOL), but non-members can still pick up their diplomas. Congratulations, AQW Batch of School Year 2008-2009! It's time to party!

AQWorlds Toolbar

Hmmm... . Well, I thought that this would be the perfect time to post about the AQWorlds Battle Bar. If you haven't downloaded it yet, just login here to download the toolbar.

Well, I can't say that it's what I expected, but okay, it's not a disappointment per se, but it's quite difficult to earn AC's as noted by Artix in the design notes. The Battle Bar has a built-in Yahoo! search, which, apparently, can be used to earn AC's. But it only notes most of the searches done so as to prevent cheating. It'll be difficult to earn AC's furthermore because of the ratio: 10:1. That means that 10 noted searches will be equal to 1 AC! So, let's say you want to buy the Phoenix Plate, which costs about 1000 AC, you'll have to do about 10,000 searches (1000 X 10 = 10,000). Rip-off. At least, I can say that I finally have at least 2 AC's, which is fairly of-note for a non-member. Oh well. It's not a total waste as we have the release to look forward to. See you guys in AQW!

An Easier Way to beat Escherion!

Sunday, May 24, 2009

Finally, we got to battle the 1st Lord of Chaos, Escherion. Fighting him was tough! I mean, with the staff of inversion butting in on the battle and all. It was annoying. Escherion is inexpugnable while the staff is still standing, so you'll have to destroy it before you can even just merely scathe the level 25 chaos lord. The battle sequence is as simple as that: Escherion is invincible while the staff is still up.

AQW must've made it so that none of us can use the Mage Ice Shard Glitch Cheat on Escherion, giving us our money's worth--or at least the members' money's worth, anyway. LOL

I did have fun, though. I battled Escherion with different players. I mean, it does get boring just battling with the same people over and over again. No offense, but the game gets boring that way. I especially like it that everyone in the room that I was in was working together; some were healing, others were constantly casting infusion on Escherion! Although, in some rooms that I was in, people were just there to get the items. That takes the fun out of the game. I like it when people make up funny dialogues, like "You're going down, Escherion" or "With one blast from my might destiny staff, you will be obliterated!" or something like those. "You is going down, Escherion!"

A little tip to make things easier: cast Infusion on Escherion, if you're a mage. Why? So that when the staff is up and you have to kill it to make Escherion vulnerable again, Escherion will be providing you with more than enough mana as you're beating up his staff. If possible, cast Ice Shard on him, too, just to mitigate the damage you and your party take. Mages are the most helpful ones in battle against Escherion, in my opinion. I can't help but feel a bit biased, as I fought against him as a mage! You know what they say, "Fight fire with fire!"

I wonder. During the last cutscene with Escherion, he was doing some basic mage spells--on himself. Well, he turned himself into a frog! Could that be the last mage skill? Ooh. I give a high-five to the AQW staff for all the occult.

EDIT: Please help my friend out by clicking his dragon. I've added him to the sidebar. I'll keep him there for about a week ^_^

I've submitted my entry for the Art Contest already, and it's not too late for all of you to submit your entries! You've got until 2:30 PM this friday to submit, so hurry and log on into the AE forums, and post your entries here! Check the old AdventureQuest homepage for their time basis.

Now that we've got that done, I humbly present to all of you my Art
Moglin Idol!Contest entry (Please refer to the image to the right. I made it as a tribute to American Idol fans and contestants, especially to the current American Idol, Kris Allen. The picture I took of the original art looks crappy. Although, the Kris Allen moglin does look great. You may have noticed the rings of water drops in the background. Well, those aren't drops of water, those are drops of Starbucks Caramel Machiatto that I've used to paint on the paper I used for this piece of art!

So everyone, I urge you to submit your entries; the prize can either be 1000 AC's, NG's, DC's, or 1250 ZT's! Go, go, go! ^_^

Just a "BTW" for everyone, my username on the AE forums is kjnav3.

Ebil Deady Game!

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

I've always wanted to post this on here, since that day I started this blog up, but I seemed to have forgotten all about it, as there were loads of events to post about back then. Anyway, it doesn't involve the AQW game per se, but it still is made by Artix Entertainment, so I suppose it deserves to be posted on here.

I don't suppose any of you still recall the Voltaire event? Yeah, that event. Darn. I loved that event! I'm a huge Voltaire fan, and have since become an avid admirer of his work. Hem, hem. Anyway, it looks like AE left Voltaire with a parting gift: a Deady Mini-game from Ebil Games for his site! Now, for any AQW player out there who is a Voltaire fan out there, too, Deady is Voltaire's own character; he even made an album featuring the weird teddy bear! You don't know who Deady is? He's that weird broken teddy bear thingy from the event, the one who took the cursed guitar at the end of the final cutscene. You can play the game
here. It's really fun, trust me. It features one of Voltaire's most satiric songs, "When you're Evil". The boss fight is hard and you might even die along the way, and end up getting a low Evil Score in the end, but so what?

It sounds like something Zorbak would play, though. Meh heh heh! Now go smash those evil skeletons!

Thanks for all the support, everyone! We've made it to over 2000 posts, and I'm proud of it; I'm excited for 3000, too, so tell your friends to drop by. To everyone who clicked my dragon, I salute you all. And yep, my username on AQW is Kuyerjudd, if you want to contact me or if you want to freelance! I hang out a lot at Zhoom.

Also, good luck to everyone joining the contest! I'm still finishing up my work. I do hope that I win. I'll post it on here soon to show y'all.

Happy Birthday, Zhoom!

EDIT: We're popping up on Google now! Woot!

Hydra Release... a bit of Walkthrough!

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Well, aside from the multiple bugs and glitches, and not to mention having to reload the mobius map six times, and having spent a tedious amount of time--hem, hem 23 minutes--on the runix cube; I think we can all say that this weekend's release was stupendous! Although each one's characters did really give to Escherion this time... . But anyway here's a little something-something for everyone.

First thing you'll notice is that there's a new login screen! I accidentally did click the "Create a new Account" button, as it was in the place of the old "Login" button, so watch out for that. After that, check out the good/evil shops, as there are new items in store for players. Both shops feature the Chaos Mace which I've been seeing a lot lately. I find the star caster staff really fashionable, though I don't know why I find it to be so.

After your recon at the good and evil shops respectively, you might want to check out Mobius. Renn/Zio has some brand new quests for you. If you've completed last week's quests and have found all pieces of the Runix Cube, all you've got to do now is to put the pieces together, accepting the first of the quest first, though. After that, just do the rest of the quest chain, and you'll soon find yourselves finally at The Tower of Relativity! Finally! But it is a rip off though, as you won't be able to battle Escherion per se, but there'll be an awesome cutscene featuring you finally interacting with Escherion.

Once you get on board the tower, to get through each door, you'll have to complete a quest. Just find-the-key kinds of quest, although the last one is a tough one! It took me 23 times to get the key off of the gargoyle! Oh, and before I forget, after doing the second door quest, you'll find yourself in a fork. To your left, there'll be a chest there, which contains I don't know what, or if it even contains anything; and to your right, the gargoyle. After that, comes the cutscene. I got a pretty awesome shot of my character there. Hmm, my character does look a bit like me in real life, minus a bit of the facial hair (only got five o' clock shadow), but I got some biceps going on, dimples and cheekbones are the same, too, and yep, eyes are an affirmative. LOL

Just talk to Renn/Zio to go to Lake Hydra. Accept the one quest from the bonfire, and fight the three Hydra heads until you have nine of its fangs; after which, just go about the lake's premises and near each rune. An 'X' will appear once you do, and just click it three times to destroy it. Once you've destroyed all three, just turn it in to the bonfire, and you're good to go. Although, I don't see what the use of the imps is in the Hydra Lake quest. They just make me lag.

Fighters Guild Strike

Awhile ago, I gathered up all of my alts--plus a few of my friends*wink*--and got them all to wear fighter armors. We did a little role playing and stuff and well, we had fun storming King Alteon's castle, which apparently, is taking up a lot of space in Lore! Huh. You learn something new every day. Anyway, we had a "Fighters Guild Strike", as I called it. All of us were wearing the same outfit; same armor, same wings, same weapons and same hair (well, same hair color at the most). This, at the same time as being a strike, is also both a fashion statement and a being-a-non-member-is-great action. Although there were only four of us--thanks, friends--and one of us was my alt and the other was some guy that tailed us off from somewhere, this is just the beginning; and there'll be more rallies like this. Rile up your friends, and join in on the fun and goodness of being a non-member!

LOL. And this is just for fun, nothing too serious; this is, of course, a MMORPG. Battle On, folks!

Ooh. Hydra.

Friday, May 15, 2009

Have you read Artix's post in the design notes yet? If you haven't, click the link at the sidebar to the left. You'll there Artix's rendition of Heracles's confrontation of the Larnaean Hydra, which probably has something to do with this weekend's release? Anyway, in Greek mythology, which I am also an avid fan and enthusiast of, the Hydra is of the most virulent and most dangerous of predators. And as fate would have it, Heracles (AKA Hercules) was tasked to slay the 9-headed monstrosity. But as he began with the slaying, he found that each time he cut off a head, two more would grow back. He had to call on his nephew to help him kill the beast. It would seem that the Hydra was about to kick the bucket. Ah, but it had one immortal head. So, using brute force, Heracles tucked the damned beast under a rock. And he went through all that trouble, too, considering he could have just done that in the first place. But wait, Hera (his goddess mother and the one who bequeathed him with the Twelve Labors, the reason for which is to atone for going berzerker on his wife LOL) found out about his nephew, and did not count that perilous journey as one of the original ten labors she'd set for him.

In DragonFable, fighting the Hydra was part of the intro storyline. Oh, how I wished to have entered the Hydra Cave and slain the 9-headed Hydra; as, for the players who haven't purchased a Dragon Amulet, we're limited to fighting the easily ownable 3-headed Hydra. Let's hope that this weekend's release isn't that of disappointing proportions as Dragon Fable's with that of the Hydra Cave.

I'm nearing a total of 900 views now. Thanks for all the support, everyone ^_^ Remember to click on my dragon egg, it's to the left under all the stuff I put at the left sidebar.

EDIT: Never mind 900, we're nearing 1000! LOL

Dragons!

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

In DragonFable, once we're done with the first part of the storyline, we are given a pet dragon. Cool, huh? And that's exactly why I loved the game. I left it long ago when I thought I wasn't getting anything out of it anymore; it became limited. I didn't finish any of the chain quests! I didn't experience a titan fight--with the possible exception of the one quest at Lady Celestia's.

Anyway, I'm the kind of person that just loves anything fantasy-related. Whether it be Sci-fi or Medieval, I'm on it! That's one of the main reasons why I play Artix Entertainment games, and also one of the reasons why I hope to someday help develop Artix Entertainment games!

Well, since I'm clearly not going to be able to ride a dragon--not in real life nor in-game--I'll have to make do with this guy:

Dragonadopters

He's still unhatched, so I'll need help levelling him up. Click on him to do so.

Another Fun Glitch

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Here's a fun glitch. It was contributed by Dragon Lord, here. What you'll need is either a rank 8 Rustbucket, Enforcer or Protosartorium; as you will need the Event Horizon skill. Now, what the Event Horizon skill does is negate any and every damage done to you by your opponent for 12 seconds.

By the way, in Physics, an Event Horizon is the part of a Black Hole that prevents anything, including light, from escaping it. That's how dense the thing is! It's amazing, really. That's why, if I do manage to land a job at Artix Entertainment, I want to be a programmer in the Mech Quest department!

Anyway, before I go all Trekkie on everyone, just attack a monster. And before anything else happens, close the monster's stats (click the 'X' on its stats), which usually pops up as you initiate a fight! Or if a monster goes aggro (meaning you provoked it to attacked you, by walking past it), then you don't have to do the latter. Once the fight is initiated, just cast the Event Horizon on yourself, and you'll see zeroes everywhere! You're invulnerable to damage! Now, you might go counting to 12, but that won't be necessary, as the glitch makes you impervious to damage for an unlimited amount of time. But isn't that cheating? No. Because you won't be attacking the monster, remember? Because once you do, you'll initiate another fight sequence, nullifying the Event Horizon you cast on it, making you susceptible to damage once more! The picture above is me with the glitch on for about eleven and a half minutes (while I was typing this whole thing!).

It looks like I'm using the cheat-sader avvie a lot this week, huh? :D Ah. And by the way, here's another cool screenshot I took awhile ago. Guess how many times I Ice Shard-ed the Grenwog (rhetorical question. Don't answer, but comments are well appreciated)? L-O-L

Mage Ice Shard Glitch Cheat

Monday, May 11, 2009

The other day, I posted about using the mage ice shard cheat on just the red dragon, Vasalkar. Well, now, I guess I can say that, after testing the cheat out on some of Lore's toughest contenders, this cheat is very versatile! I tested it on Belrot and Grenwog, and I would've tested it on the Grand Inquisitor, too, if I had the time.

Again, the cheat goes as follows. First, you cast the ice shard on the target, then exit the room, return and cast, and then repeat this for about 2 more times (a total of 4 times). And that's all there is to it.

Here's a fledgling site, AdventureQuest Worlds Cheats (not to be confused with AdventureQuest Worlds Cheats™). This one is led by DarkWarior31. Help the guy out, and drop by and give him a comment or two.

Fun at the Ruins: Shortcuts!

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Well, I really shouldn't be using the cheat-sader avatar on this one, as it's not really a cheat but more of a tip; also as I'm sure it's part of the Ruins and their tribute to M.C. Escher.

Anyway, remember those good ol' days? Just watching TV, got nothing to do? And then you see Scooby and Shaggy, running around some old haunted house, defying the laws of physics by entering and reentering through another door in a set of doors in a hallway? Yep. That part of the show. Well, I was sort of hoping that AQW would squeeze this in the Escher tribute!

In this room in the ruins of Cornelis (refer to the image to the right), you might notice that some players appear and disappear quickly. I was a bit addled by that, too. I did a little bit of meddling, and made up this shortcut map of the room. It's nothing useful, but it is sort of fun. I mean, what's not fun about defying the laws of physics? A leads to A, B leads to B, so on and so forth... .

Please do comment and tell me if I missed something.

Happy Mothers' Day!

I seriously don't get it. Why is it Happy Mother's Day and not Happy Mothers' Day? I mean, it makes more sense, doesn't it? There isn't just one mom whose day it is today, but over millions! But on the one hand, using a singular possessive subject does make for a more meaningful greeting. Fine. Never mind that, then.

Anyway, they've opened up the Mother's Day shop today, and it'll only be there 'til today, adventurers, so better log in and buy a bouquet of flowers for your moms! Sadly, though, there's only one non-member item, and that is the bouquet of flowers. Like I say, it's better than nothing! Members will be able to buy a Fairy godmother pet and a golden rolling pin, perfect for baking Mother's Day cookies!

Aside from the shop, the AQW staff has set us up with some awesome Mother's Day greeting gear, sure to win the hearts of each and every mom--provided that the character's not wearing a profane armor. Eep! My mother will kill me with the beard my character has! If you're a non-member and in no position to buy a classy armor, and you plan on sending your mom the card; then I probably suggest wearing the Mariachi armor. It's one of those few versatile armors that AQW releases every now and then. Anyway, the animation is extremely adorable and at the same time, die-hard hilarious! Darn you, Twig! You've managed to make me fall off my chair once again!

If you're interested in getting to know other adventurers, and chat in a more homey way, here's a link to an unofficial AQWorld forum called the
AQWorlds Community Forum, led by Lordoc, whom I would like to thank for providing me with a functioning view counter!

Party Updates--Great Job, AQW!

Saturday, May 9, 2009

This seems pretty late, I can only guess. I mean, it's been a while since I actually joined a party in AQW. As most of you may have already noticed, the staff's been busy, fixing bugs and updating a few things for all of us. One of these things that they've updated is the party system.

First off, what you'll notice is that, if you're the invite-er, you'll have a golden badge/shield by your stats, signifying that you're the party's leader. The leader always has the badge next to their name.

Vaslakar Glitch Cheat

Friday, May 8, 2009

Well, the other day, I went to the usual newbie-ish, common misconception-ed farming ground (lair-9999 at any server... usually); and I saw a level 13, rank 9 mage totally owning the red dragon, Vasalkar, on his own. It was a spectacular sight--knight slaying dragon. Just amazing. It was a fantasy come true for me. I mean, in stories, the knight was usually alone when he'd slay the dragon. You don't see any of those on AQW, as Vasalkar has 20, 000 HP!

So after a bit of research, the glitch goes as follows. First, you'll need at least a rank 2 mage class, as you'll need its ice shard skill. Now all you've got to do is cast ice shard, then exit Vasalkar's cave. Re-enter, cast it again, then exit. You'll notice lesser damage done on your player as you exit. Repeat this for another two times (so a total of four times now), and you'll notice that the dragon is actually healing you. I constantly end up having full HP and MP, as I also have infusion on, too.

Anyway, enjoy the glitch while it lasts. I'm pretty sure that once the staff hears about this, they'll probably fix it ASAP. Hmm, so that means that I shouldn't have posted this on here. But L-O-L to that, eh? :D

Update Time!

Monday, May 4, 2009

Well, I've done the nearly impossible. After an hour of farming at portalundead and after selling tons of Burn it Downs, I've successfully reached the gold cap! I was surprised that as I was about to sell another Burn it Down, to find that it was worth 0 gold. And then I realized that I'd reached the gold cap.

And now I'm still figuring out what else there is to do for a non-member in AQW. Hmm, I guess I should have thought of that before I started farming gold. So now I'm officially bored to death... .

Another Potential Armor: Fighter

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Last time, I made a post about the potentiality of Peasant Rags as a great armor. But now, I've noticed something about the Fighter Armor. It's just as flexible as the peasant rags, although it's not as cheap. Ah. But why is it a potential great armor? Find out here.

The reason why it has such potential at being a great armor is because of its structure. Take a second to reminisce on all the other fashionable armors that the AQW staff has released, and what do they have in common? They emphasize the shoulders. Like the swordhaven adept, and the rogue and dragon slayer base; the fighter armor emphasizes the shoulders.

Sometimes it's about emphasizing a certain part of the body that makes a player stand out from the crowd. Sometime's it's about the color and how you incorporate and make use of all the available equipment that the staff has setup for us non-members. Sometimes, it's okay not being a member. See, it's not so bad, is it?

Why Bother!?

I really want to thank AQW for the referral system, and all those that have used my link to register for their very own accounts at one of the most creative and enjoyable games, Adventure Quest Worlds; although I do have something to say about the referral system. It's not very reliable, and I doubt that it's been given that much thought.

Recently, I've been getting a bunch of pop-ups whenever I log in, and I get a paltry sum of gold, depending on how much the referred player gets per day; I am a bit--well, put in a more acceptable way--pissed off. I mean, what about those that've maxxed out their level meter and have also maxxed out their gold, don't they get anything? I mean, I was a bit surprised to find the pop-up saying, "You earned 0 Gold and 27 XP from Referred Friends." How, may I ask, can a level 20 player still get a deficit amount such as 27 XP, when the level cap is, of course, 20? At first I was surprised, I thought they'd finally raised the level cap, then I was just plain disappointed. I got nothing, not even just a measly 700 gold!
They should give out items and such to players instead of paltry amounts of gold (if Neopets is an example). Like, for 20 referrals, you get a Plastic Blade of Awe; or, for 300 referrals, you get J6's armor--so on and so forth. I mean, why bother putting their name up in lights, if they don't even give us at least 1 gold? I know it's based on how much the referred player gets in a day's trekking, but it's still unjust that we get zip when it comes to XP.
