Broom of Doom Travesty--not too bad

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Well, at least one good thing did happen during this most grand of all travesties--I got to enjoy Lore like I never had before.
Lately, I've been feeling as if something was missing. Since the day that I maxxed up my level and had recently maxxed every class I had, I haven't been enjoying AQW that much. I almost thought that I'd lost all sense of being AQH! It's no use playing a game that you don't enjoy anymore.
Perhaps this wasn't as blundering a faux pa as most of us might think; instead the game's way of slapping some sense into our adventure-less lives! I mean, I fought every monster battle-able in lore, meeting new players, helping some noobs out. I even went back to Dogear and the Princess! I did quests that I had no idea still existed or had existed. And I lived up to the Adventurer's Code of Ethics, while I was at it. LOL
Although they did screw up big time... but at least I'm looking at it in a shrewd way. :D
P.S.
No idea why, but I just felt like using the Voltaire avatar on this post.
Battle On!

Valencia Daily Quest: Hiatus?

Cheating--bad. An angry mob of disgruntled ireful AQW players--worse.
Okay. I understand that AE might have been pissed at us for having done such a terrible thing in the game as cheat, but that's no reason for them to punish us in such a horrid way--if they have or if they are planning to in the near future.
At near-desperate attempt to actually find the Rare Unidentified Broom, I have fought absolutely EVERY monster still available in the confines of Lore! I've spent a considerable amount of time per each location, but there still was no sign of the so called R.U.B. . I just couldn't believe I wasted this much time today. And yes, I did take the quest before my incessant rampage through lore. The things that people would do for a broom... .
AE, I just hope I can make it through the night--I can't sleep knowing that there's a quest I haven't done (if the Leprechaun quest is an example). I'm hoping for the best for the game, though.

AQW Valencia Daily Quests Cheat!

Monday, April 27, 2009

Although it is not in my nature to 'cheat' the game, and although it might damage my player integrity, I am happy to be able to share with everyone a currently efficient way of cheating Valencia's Daily Quests. *applause*
It turns out that whatever date of quest that pops up in Valencia's Daily Quest pop-up is totally based upon the date on your computer. You may just simply opt to double-click the time display on your taskbar, and change the current date to whichever date's quest you want to do--or redo. Yes, good, bad--and chaotic--players of AQW, if you missed a day of Daily Quest, you can go back by changing your PC's date to said date that you missed.

You may also go and do quests in advance *shudders* *faints* I feel really terrible for doing this. But thankfully, AQW doesn't release the next day's daily quest until half-way through the current day on GMT+8--a conjecture, if you will.

Anyway, I found this really funny picture of kuyerjudd a few hours ago. I'd taken it about a week or so ago. It's funny. LumberJudd. lol

An Update and a Makeover!

Sunday, April 26, 2009

Updates on Kuyerjudd!

Well, I haven't found the time to really even just try to grind up on the CPs, as I've been busy the past couple of days, but nevertheless, I did make it to half way through rank 8 on my Barber. And plus, I've missed two days of Valencia's Daily Quests! And the second day weapon did look hard core. Oh, Well. Better luck this Sunday, then. But it's a slime wep, for Alteon's sake!

Bunny Fashion!
I know that Easter came and went already, but who's to say that we're not allowed to still wear bunny outfits? Well, I thought I'd share a few tips for those of us who still are in the spirit of all things cute and cuddly--as Robina might put it.

The first and only thing you'll need... is a Savage Hare Morph.
Now, for those of us who are still fairly new to AQW, the helmet can be bought at a bit of a costly amount of 25,000 gold at Warlic's Shop. It looks like that Transforming Berzerker Bunny Helm without the helm part! It goes well with almost any armor, you just have to be creative with the color customization at the most part; but other than that, it's pretty simple. Here's a few I've tried on (from left to right below): The Barbaric Bunny look, The Holy Bunny look, (for the chaotic players) The Chaos Bunny look, and of course, The Meh-he-he-I'm-Ebil look.

Not bad, if I do say so myself. Although, the 100K White Feathery Wings is a bit of a rip-off, it's not even completely white! It almost looks like 25% gray on the palette!

Casual Fashion!

I know that since the release of the Guardian, Dragonlord and Star Captain armor releases, it's hard for non-members--such as myself--to keep up with the coolness of the member armors. Well, I've recently just tried on a cheap and yet fashionably acceptable detour for non-members. And it's even cheaper than the recycled armor, too. All you have to do is pick out what goes with what. Just a heads up: the below guide is only if you want to stand out from the crowd, and amazingly enough, it works. Although, I haven't tried it out on a female character, but I'll get on it ASAP. So this is only for the male characters.
Anyway, it'll cost you no more than at least 2% of how much you have on you. All you'll need is the Peasant Rags armor, which you can buy at the armor shop at Battleon. It's probably one of the most flexible of all armors. Here are a few examples of what I've tried on and what I think look really decent--and cheap:
Oh, and my personal favorite is the rugged cabaret musician look, as it reminds of the Voltaire Event, which I found one of the most memorable of all AQW events. Yes, people, I am a Voltaire fan. Make sure if you're not using the same hairstyle as the ones above, to use a simple cut, as a more intricate one might take out the genuine simplicity of the armor. And plus, it makes a good statement: Cut back on resource-usage! Uh-huh?

What MMORPGs are all about!

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Well, I just saw this post, at Sci-fi Troll's blog, and I was inadvertently reminded of a good ol' friend of mine from way back when I was still a newbie trying to rustle up some decent sell-able items. He was on my friend list, but I had to delete him after I joined the Dragonlords of Destiny Clan; as there were too many clan members that I had to add, and he was the only one I could delete, because he hadn't been on for a whole month now. I feel bad for doing that. If I'd only known that he'd impact the way I'd play the game, then I would've deleted someone else. I even forgot what his username was! But it was extremely long and befuddling.

If you've been in the game long enough to have been on multiple party outings, then you might have probably encountered "that" fellow. You know, those people that really get, literally, "into" the game itself--so to speak, of course. I've had this happen to me quite a lot in the good ol' days. There'd be at least one person in the party who'd be ranting on about how he was the "Scourge of Evil" or the "Crusader of Holy Holiness (this one's me. lol.)" or even "Artix's Right Hand Phoenix Fighter;" and everyone would reply, "LOL." Well, at least that's respecting the player, but saying, "Weirdo" or "geek" is a little bit too much.

I actually am an admirer of people who make up their own titles and their own part of Lore, just to spice things up a bit. Because, why would AE have made games like AQW or DF, if no one got "into" it. Thus, the Role Playing in MMORPG. I like players who really role play, as it takes a load off when you're farming, and you get tired of Eugene, the unfortunate grinding dwakel. And besides, it's stress-relieving, as it takes you away from the creativity-suppressing perils of life; and it enhances one's creativity and imagination. It opens up new ideas, and it also gives each player a unique role in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if Artix Entertainment awarded people who got into the game with Coins, as it might take a load of boulders off of their backs as well. *winks at AE* If I worked at AE, I knew it would help me get through the day. *winks expectantly at AE*

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Well, I can't say it'll be one of the most remembered of dates that we've had in AQW history, but I did enjoy being part of the Earth Day event in AQW. The shop opened about a few hours after I'd logged off--I'm assuming. And after I'd watch Leonardo DiCaprio's "The 11th Hour," I thought I'd play around a bit in AQW, and what do you know? The shop was open! I bought every item in the list--well, except for the pet, which no non-member will ever get to buy, anyways. The armor was actually really reminiscent of The Transformers. Well, I wouldn't keep the Cardboard Sword, but the Recycled Armor's staying in my inventory for until I still play AQW. The Bucket helm's really, errr, unique, so I think I wouldn't mind keeping it until a much better one arrives, soon. Well, happy earth day.

MechQuest Art Book

Well, I just saw Artix's post on the MechQuest Art Book, which features outstanding Mecha Art and a How to Draw section, too. I believe it's worth the buy, and I'm excited for it. I really do hope it comes out in the Philippines, too--well, there's a good chance that it might, just about three years later than when they might plan on releasing the book. I'm just so excited, so excited that it was like that time when I was so excited for the last Harry Potter book! And also, I was laughing my head off at that reenactment of when Aisha had finished the MechQuest Art Book! God, it was so hilarious. But on a graver note, though, as a writer, I can relate to that. I guess a graphic book is as similar to a book of words as peanut butter is to jam, but I figure the same principles apply. It's frustrating when you think you've got it all straight, crease-free and complete; and then you find several typos, but in Aisha's case... er, pixel displacement? Mehehe. Anyway, it'll be worth the buy, too, because there'll be a code that let's you gain access to a SkullCrusher Armor thingy, which I am excited about, and which I hope is not a sick way of trying to entice us all to shift from being non-members to members. Not that there's anything wrong with being a member, but I just think that we deserve to live a fantasy for free, that's all. We need to emancipate our souls made for the medieval ages, filled with dungeons and dragons, and crap! But I hardly think this is pertinent to the topic here, so L-O-L.

Anyway, in other news, Earth Day's coming up. I wonder what AQW's got in mind and up their sleeves this time. I bet it'll be another one of those small-but-special events that we're all going to remember for the rest of AQW history...because, put blandly, we'll be making it--or at least, the members are, but L-O-L to that, eh?

My Take on the New Area

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Well, I know I'm a little late with the release of the new areas and all; well, plainly because I was taking it all in for an insightful post; and I wanted my facts straight. But anyway, here goes.

So, once the war meter was full, every player--non-members and members, alike--went to reap off of the Cyclops Warlord and Slugfit in the other room. I can't really elaborate on what Slugfit drops, or if he even drops anything, because the players in every room were all caught up in the Cyclops Warlord, which drops some pretty decent drops for both members and non-members. And might I add that most of the drops sold really well, bring me from 1.3 million gold to 1.4 million gold in just one sitting.

But aside from that, AQW also opened up a new area. The new area features some pretty outstanding graphics, not to mention some pretty opulent, lavish art! I'm really well familiar with Maurits Cornelis Escher's works, and I just was so dumbfounded--in a good way--at what I'd seen in the new area. Their take on M.C. Escher's Waterfall is hilarious and yet spectacular and artistic in a way. In a not so pertinent take on this, I wished that they'd taken a risk, and done something like making an area similar to Escher's Relativity; I really wanted to see what they could do with that. Hey, maybe that'll be what Escherion's Tower looks like, eh?
Aside from the graphics, I found Aracara to be quite difficult, what with her shielding and healing techniques! Well done, AQW, well done! Now, I just hope AQW makes a spider class. I know I'd definitely pay for membership for that. Aracara drops 5 different weapons and a helmet, similar to the DreadSpider.

In other news, for those of us non-members out there who want to get their hands on a chainsaw, and be 'in' with the members, AQW has been gracious enough to give us that oppurtunity. Chainsaw Sneevils drop chainsaws! You'll want the blue chainsaw, as the green one is only for members; and plus, the blue one is broken, it only vibrates every once in awhile. Well, it's better than nothing. Thanks, AQW, Battle on!

Updates on Kuyerjudd

Updates on my AQW Character, Kuyerjudd

Well, today, I'm really glad that I finally ranked up my Rustbucket class to rank 10, making it my 10th rank 10 class; leaving my Barber class the last class that I have yet to rank up to 10. If I had only started playing AQW earlier, then I would have gotten my hands on a No Class class. It might be difficult to rank up, but I'd still have 12 rank 10 classes, then. One of my closest friends on AQW, Teponbo, has 13 non-member classes (2 Leprechaun classes and a No Class class; lucky him). I've already gotten my Barber class to rank 6, click here, if you want to visit my character page. That being said, I've got a long way to go. Hehe, I wonder if I could buy myself an extra Warrior class; you know, so I could get 12 classes in the end.

Rogue-type Class Battling Guide

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Rogue-type classes are arguably some of the weakest classes in AQW. The main focus of rogue-type skills are mostly for DoT (Damage over Time), none of which would be as useful as a warrior class's direct attacks and a mage class's skills which help not only the player using it but also players who are fighting along side the player using it. Furthermore, it seems that AQW likes to use the same skills as the rogue class for other and maybe future classes, thus coining the term "rogue-type." If you look at some of the classes a non-member can use in AQW, you'll see that quite a number of them use the same skill set as the rogue class, just with the difference of icons and percentage done by a skill. Take for instance the Leprechaun class. I was so happy that there'd be a new class, and bla, bla, bla... then I saw that they just changed the icons and the percentage done by the skill. Concealed Blade and Patrick's Secret has the same effect. If you're using a barber class, then you'll see that it has the same skill set as rogue and pirate classes; the only difference being the icons.
But with the latter being said, that Rogue-type skills aren't as useful as they might seem to everyone, while ranking up my rogue-type classes--and getting extremely bored in the process--I saw that there's was actually a great way to battle with a near-weak class. It's merely al about being disciplined in using your mana, and finding the right oppurtinity to use which skill at which given point in a fight. Or if you're grinding up on CP or XP, the same applies, too. Remember, this guide applies to the following classes: Rogue, Pirate, Barber and Leprechaun.
So the first skill on your arsenal is the Viper's Kiss (or Irish Blessing on Leprechaun), so this skill is a sort of DoT skill, where you'll autonatically cause a given percentage of a damage, inflicting it on a target, while also "poisoning" it, which lasts for a given amount of time. Next, is Puncture (or Needlepoint on Leprechaun), which increases the damage that you deal on your opponent in a given amount of time by a certain percent. But before we go on further, these two skills are your best friends. Why? Because these are your basic rogue-type class farming tools. If you're ranking up a rogue-type class, then you'll find yourself using these two often. But which of these two should you use first when fighting? Well, some might think that it only is more logical to Puncture first than to Viper Kiss. But no, it's better to Viper Kiss first than to Puncture (or Irish Blessing first then Needlepoint), because you're only given a certain amount of time before the Puncture lasts, and you don't want an automatic attack to come between the succession of your normal attacks, because that is an automatic attack wasted.
So, the third skill is Footwork (or Ceili for Leprechaun). Now this skill increases something and decreases something in the process. So in short, it's sort of like an inverse proportion. Now, I find this skill one of the ones that I don't use too much. It's sort of a skill that you'll want to use when fighting a boss on your own, or maybe just when you're running out of HP. The fourth skill is Concealed Blade (or Patrick's Secret on Leprechaun). This skill is useful only when you're fighting a strong monster or if you're farming solo. What it does is increase your chances of causing a stronger hit on your target in a given amount of turns; so you may or may not get a strong hit each time. The Leprechaun class can do higher damage than the other rogue-type classes.
Just remember these, and you'll make a good rogue. Battle On, non-members! XD

Easter Egg Hunt!! A walkthrough.

Sunday, April 12, 2009

Well, the Easter event turned out great after all! I knew that the AQW staff wouldn't let us down! It turns out that all the items that you could get at the Easter Egg Hunt event were for every player.

Now, here's a little tip for all of you haven't started with the Easer Egg Hunt. So first off, you'll notice some eggs scattered about Battleon. Next, talk to the cute little moglin-bunny-erm-thingy, Cadbury, who is hanging out on Twilly's usual spot. So just accept his quest. For non-members, you'll only be able to do the first quest, the one for the bag full of easter eggs. So just go about it Battleon and find the eggs. If you're having trouble with the eggs, here's a list of places you can find the eggs:

  • 3 at the main screen; one next to the stump, one by the rightmost tree, and one to the upper-right side by Cleric Joy.

  • 3 at Valencia's Screen; one on Warlic's shop, one by Aria's pet shop, and one on Yulgar's Inn's chimney.

  • 1 at Mazumi's screen; you won't miss it, by the tree.

  • 2 at Warlic's Shop; one on the left shelf, and another by the righmost bookshelf.

  • 2 at Aria's Shop; one on the counter, and another on the horse.

  • 2 at the Guardian Tower screen; one to the left, and another to the right, by the bush.

  • 2 at Zorbak's screen; one at Yulgar's roof, and another by Zorbak's tree.

So after that, just turn in, and then find a Vorpal Bunny to access the Easter Egg Hunt Quests. Now you'll be tasked to find four rare eggs: the Quacked Egg, the Wooden Egg, the Were Egg, and the Egg Shell. Now, you'll have to fight a few monsters to get those eggs, and quite a few times each. Here's the list of where to get each egg.

  • Quacked Egg-General Porkon's at Orc Town

  • Wooden Egg- Treeant's at Farm

  • Were Egg-Werewolf's at Willow Creek

  • Egg Shell-Grizzlespit's at Boxes

Now, don't get discouraged, if at after 50 times, you still don't get the quest items that you're looking for; because, the highest percent that you're given at finding an egg, is only 3%, and that's only for the Wooden Egg. It would be easier if you'll go with a strong party, consisting of a mage, a healer, and a warrior; or something of that sort.

After that, just go and find a Vorpal Bunny, and turn in. Be careful, because if your character's movement is slowing down, there's a good chance that you are lagging and might get disconnected; so just stay put at Battleon, and wait for a member to drop by, then turn in.

After that, you can go and show off your fancy new armor, and maybe go and help out a bit with other players who haven't finished it yet. You could also go check out Grenwog's, but all you'll get there is his tooth, which will turn into something, but could just be another member only item. But you never know, AQW might have a surprise in store for all of us ;) Just type /join grenwog, for an egg-xtremely difficult boss fight.

And remember, the "Don't-use-any-skill-or-the-drop-rate-will-lower" rumor is, of course, just a rumor, so don't believe any of those crap; because AQW has set a specific drop rate for each monster that you're going to have to fight to get the eggs.

Happy Easter! :)

Egg-sited for Easter?

Friday, April 10, 2009

Alright. So here goes.

As you all know, Easter is drawing near. And at the design notes today, Artix was happy enough to give everyone a sneak peek at the Easter event through the hard-working Miltonius's Character Page, which features some of the 'might-be' drops for Easter. Now, I did a bit of sleuthing about there, but it doesn't take a genius to figure things out, obviously. A bunch of the coolest items that you can see in Miltonius's page are, well, member only; but do not fret, for we non-members get some of the coolness, because there will, of course, be non-mem item drops. Now, if you click on Miltonius's character's helm and spear, it'll transform. Yes, obviously, some members only perk; makes me wish I were a member. Humph. Well, at least the cool 'might-be' helm is a 'might-be' non-mem item. It's called the Transforming Berzerker Bunny Helm. There's also a Savage Hare Morph, a Berzerker Bunny armor, Transforming Spear of the Berzerker Bunny, and the Eggstreme Mace. The pets of course are all mem only. An Easter Moglin would be great... humph. See you all on Easter, everyone ;) Ugh! I just can't get over how cool the Bunny Spear looks! Ugh!!

This Week...

Surprise!

There was nothing in AQW this week but surprises, surprises and more surprises! I really, really love this week at AQW! Finally, I--or anyone else for that matter--never have to get bombarded with unwanted party and friend invites. And that's not all, they also did release the war officially to every player on AQW. But seriously, it is uber hard to fill up the war meter. It won't be as easy to fill up as we all did when artix first released it during the Voltaire even, which we all finished in less than half a day. And it's been a few days now since the war release, and we have yet to even make it 50% through! Everyone, battle on!

Another surprise that AQW had for us players is the monster randomization system, where none of us ever have to get tired of just battling the same monsters over and over again in the same screen! Woot!

So just to sum things up, I want to really thank AQW for a wonderful week; hehe, and I know that the surprises are just starting this week. Anyone seen the easter bunny? Egg-sactly what I need... . ;)

Updates...updates

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Well, it's been awhile since I lasted posted something on here. There hasn't been a lot a non-member player can do this week so far. But I am a bit excited about the war release for non-mems and the easter weekend event on AQW. There'll be a lot of posts after that, though, I can assure everyone. Anyway, I thought that I'd log about my character on AQW this week. I just made it to 9 rank 10 classes, and I'm still working on rustbucket and barber. You know, the funny thing about the classes are that the only differences they have amongst each other are their icons, and that AQW has changed the percentage of the effects of the skills. That is to say, that leprechaun class can do more damage with Patrick's Secret than Concealed Blade on rogue, pirate and barber. That being said, Rustbucket has exactly the same skills as ProtoSartorium and Enforcer, which is a bit of a drag.

Happy April Fools, Everyone!

Happy Belated April Fools!

Anyway, yesterday was April fools--or at least, it is for some of us. So, I went nostalgic again yesterday, and visited every AE game that I ever played--that is to say with the exception of the original AdventureQuest game, which I could not log in to, because of the damn server cap, which they then lowered from 7000 to 6500. That's right. In AQW, it seems that Zorbak's been up to no good--as usual. He altered some things in battleon, including Valencia, Warlic, Twilly and the Cleric, and Aria. What's fun here is that there was this April fool's shop, where there were this cool-named weapons and items. So some may have thrown away and sold their rares, and when they equipped their new weapons, nothing showed up in their hands. And the jokes not on us, though, because we now have the ability to battle unnequipped! Ha! April fools to you, too, AE! Yes, Artix's ScribbleAxe only lasts for only awhile, and so does the "Blade of aww... man!" But the good news is that they didn't say anything about the whoopie cushion. ;) AE just made my day. Plus, we find out where Aria actually keeps her "monies." (Clicky on the pics to enlarge, and see how I spent my AQW April Fools Day. It was fun!).

After AQW, I thought I'd check up on DragonFable, and was surprised to find everything upside down! But it was all a prank. Anyways, I bought some stuff at the April Fool's Shop. The baton thingy that looked like it was used for the Macarena or something. You could actually equip it, unlike the April Fools day weapons in AQW. Acually, I really didn't check out too much of it.

Next, I checked out MQ, and saw that there was this rare mecha thingy going on. It had better not be a prank, I said; because the cheapest mecha was 16,500 credits; and that's a big deal if you're only starting out at MQ. Next, there was the Holiday button. I got owned by a Jimmy the Eye Pod mecha. And after that, AE finally reveals to everyone the History of Lore, and how it just keeps on repeating itself! It's really funny watching everything that happens throughout history, especially how Drakath gets pwned because of something. And Twilly kersploded into a million pieces (well, not really). You have no idea how long I have wanted to see Drakath get owned like that! Woot! Happy April Fools day, everyone!
